Gry McFarlane

Trainer:
Gry McFarlane started riding at the age of 10. She rode successfully as a junior and amateur before becoming a professional. For over 30 years, she has been teaching riders from beginner to Grand Prix. Perhaps Gry's most notable training accomplishment was as the primary groundsman and manager of a single rider she coached from the local Northern California circuit to the International Jumper ring, with numerous Grand Prix wins along the way. As a professional instructor, she believes that a positive teaching style with specifically designed exercises produces successful horses and riders. Under her tutelage, both horse and rider quickly become adept problem solvers, a must with today's complicated courses.
Gry has a long, successful track record of matching horse and rider. This has resulted in many lasting and competitive partnerships. Among a few of her training accomplishments are: Multiple Grand Prix and Derby wins, winner of the 2005 USET West Coast Finals, multiple winners of the Nor Cal Hunter Jumper Jr and Amateur Medal Finals, winner of the WCE Finals, and winner of the CPHA Jr and Amateur Finals. She is very proud to have been the trainer of many current top professionals of today, some but certainly not all of them, are Ned Glynn, Samantha Imperato, Paul Bennet, Denise Borges, Lindsay Archer, Kelly Maddox, Jeff Fields and many more.
Gry has also been involved in the selection and training of top showjumpers as well as equitation horses. Under her training, horses have excelled in everything from the 5 year old YJC Finals to the World Cup Grand Prix ring with major wins in the Equitation arena as well.
Gry is very proud to be the mother of 11 year old Ian McFarlane, who is now competing in the Children's Jumper Division on the wonderful mare Fortuna.
